On to Zone Level…
THE YERINGTON LIONS Club hosted its annual student speakers contest on Feb. 2. The topic was “Why the Escalating Violence Among Out Youth?” Students participating were (from left) Rachelle Rader, Casey Kilgore, Tyler Trout, Christina Fausone, Magali Cruz, Nick O’Connor, and Andrew Garner. Rachelle Rader (a Smith Valley student, rest Yerington High) won the contest and will now compete at the Zone level in Fallon Feb. 27. The club would like to thank Rita Evasovic, Sheriff Allen Veil, and Joan Sciarani, CPA for judging.

Mason Valley Fire Department obtains UTV to help with response to hard-to-reach locations
Thanks to donations from the Walker River Communities Foundation and Yerington Lions Club, the Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Department was able to purchase this Polaris Ranger (behind) 6x6 OHV to be used especially for hard-to-reach emergencies.
